With success at The Roland Garros Stadium in a fortnights time Rafa Nadal would be forever in the history of tennis as this would secure an unprecedented seventh French Open title. The Spaniard has been on impressive form on clay this year, but would need to deny and overcome Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer who are both hunting tennis records at this year’s Paris tournament. Nadal who is currently world number two and Spanish number one is the man to beat in France and is the defending champion going into this year’s competition and after a routine first round victory looks set to retain his trophy.

After France, Nadal will be also defending his Olympic gold medal at London 2012. This year’s Olympic competition will be as tough as ever with British number one tennis star Andy Murray looking set to really challenge Nadal for the gold medal. With the crowd in Murray’s favour, Nadal will certainly have his work cut out for him. Murray is currently suffering from a  back complaint, but has already performed well this year, with a strong first round in the French Open and as always will be a strong contender going into this year’s Wimbledon championship.

Nadal’s Olympic success may not be the crowning jewel of his significant trophy cabinet, but there is little doubt that the twenty five year old will be desperate to reclaim his medal. Many tennis players have highlighted the special achievement that comes with a gold medal as the tournament only comes around every four years and so there is little chance to win one throughout your career, and so this year’s Olympics may well be as good as a grand slam for Nadal especially if he fails to win in Paris and Wimbledon.
